Acid-Base Balance (pH Regulation)
Blood pH: The normal range for arterial blood pH is 7.35 to 7.45.
Buffer Systems: The body uses chemical buffers (like Bicarbonate), the Respiratory system (CO2 excretion), and the Renal system (H+ excretion) to maintain pH.
Acidosis: Occurs when pH falls below 7.35 (excess acid).
Alkalosis: Occurs when pH rises above 7.45 (excess base).
