The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave yellow alert for eight districts in Punjab, including Bathinda and Sangrur, as temperatures soar above normal. Sri Anandpur Sahib recorded the highest temperature at 44.5°C. In response to the extreme heat and rising electricity demand, the Punjab government has adjusted government office hours to 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM until July 15. Relief is expected from June 11 with predicted rain and thunderstorms.
