A tragic road accident occurred on NH-26 in Balangir town where a mother and daughter lost their lives. The victims, identified as Sunita Nag and her daughter Shruti Nag, were traveling on a scooter when it slipped due to mud piled on the road from nearby pond renovation work. After falling, a speeding truck ran over them and fled the scene. Both died on the spot.
