A private Gulfstream G-200 jet crashed and burst into flames during takeoff at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. Both the American pilot and co-pilot lost their lives in the accident. The aircraft, which had arrived from Puerto Rico and refueled, was en route to Austin, Texas. Fortunately, no passengers were on board.
