A joint meeting of aided and non-aided colleges was held in Barnala to protest against the massive fee hike by Punjabi University Patiala and the Punjab government's neglect of higher education. Management Federation President Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina criticized the hike in enrollment and examination fees, stating it's unaffordable for poor students. The meeting demanded the restoration of the 95% grant-in-aid system and a review of the 50-year-old staffing policy in line with NEP 2020.
