Residents and travelers of Kalahandi have appealed to MP Malvika Devi to extend flight services from Utkela Airstrip to Visakhapatnam. Currently, IndiaOne Air operates daily flights between Utkela and Bhubaneswar. Since many patients from Kalahandi, Nuapada, and Balangir travel to Visakhapatnam for emergency medical treatment, a direct flight under the UDAN-RCS scheme would significantly reduce travel time compared to the 5-hour train journey.
