Paddy transplantation has officially begun in five districts of the Malwa region in Punjab including Bathinda and Ferozepur starting June 5. Other districts will follow on June 9. The Punjab government has directed power authorities to ensure a continuous 8-hour daily electricity supply to farmers. To meet the demand, instructions have been issued to operate the thermal plants at Banawala and Lehra Mohabbat.
