Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced a major crackdown on tax evasion in the iron and steel sector. The State Investigation and Preventive Unit (SIPU) intercepted over 200 vehicles in the Mandi Gobindgarh and Khanna belt, seizing goods worth approximately 7 crore rupees. Over 2,400 metric tonnes of scrap and finished steel were found being transported without proper invoices or with suspicious documents.
