Renowned Pandwani folk singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr. Teejan Bai passed away at the age of 70 at AIIMS Raipur after a prolonged illness. She was instrumental in taking Chhattisgarh's folk art to the global stage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai expressed their condolences, calling it a huge loss for the world of art and culture. She was a recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan awards.
