Japan has been struck by its third major earthquake in four days, with a 6.1 magnitude quake hitting the Iwate prefecture on Sunday morning. The tremor occurred at a depth of 40km at 5:21 AM local time. While no tsunami warning was issued and no immediate casualties were reported for Sunday's event, previous tremors in the series have caused minor injuries, power outages, and landslides. Authorities have warned of a 10% to 20% chance of another significant quake in the coming days. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has established a crisis management center to prioritize human life as two tropical storms also approach the region.
