From an early age, he felt drawn to God and eventually became a Marist priest. When the call for missionary work came, he responded without hesitation. In 1837, he was sent to the remote island of Futuna in Oceania—far from everything familiar. The people had never known Christ. The culture was different, the language unfamiliar, and the environment challenging. Yet Peter did not try to change everything quickly. He learned their language, lived among them, and served with patience and humility. ✨ A Life Transformed At first, he was welcomed. But as the message of the Gospel began to take root—especially when the king’s own son sought baptism—fear and resistance grew. The king saw this new faith as a threat to his authority. Peter knew the danger, yet he did not withdraw. In 1841, he was attacked and killed by those sent by the king. His mission seemed to end in silence.
