A tragic accident occurred at the Visakhapatnam steel plant in Andhra Pradesh when a ladle filled with molten steel at 1,500 degrees Celsius exploded and leaked. The incident took place in the SMS-2 and STC-3 units while the ladle was being lifted by a crane. At least 8 workers lost their lives and several others were injured as the boiling liquid steel fell on them.
