Due to lack of rainfall in the upper catchment areas, the water level of Hirakud Dam has dropped to 600.65 feet, leading to a significant decline in power generation. Priority is being given to industrial water supply and irrigation, causing electricity production to halt in the mornings at Chipilima and reach minimal levels at Burla. Experts warn that further reduction in water levels could severely impact irrigation.
