A 60-year-old woman named Jamuna Mahanta was trampled to death by a tusker in Saleidihi village under the Banki forest range of Sundargarh district. The victim had gone out for morning ablutions when she encountered the elephant. Forest officials have reached the spot to recover the body for post-mortem and have formed a team to drive the elephant away.
