The Punjab government has expanded the 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana' by approving 17 additional medical procedures in empanelled private hospitals. These procedures, including general surgery, ENT, and orthopedic treatments, were previously restricted to government hospitals. The scheme's scope has also been broadened to include single individuals, such as widows and senior citizens living alone. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated this move aims to reduce the burden on government facilities and decrease patient waiting times.
