Heritage furniture from the Punjab MLA Hostel in Chandigarh, including two chairs and four low stools, was auctioned in Chicago, USA, for over Rs 59 lakh ($72,720). The auction by 'Wright' auction house has sparked a controversy regarding the illegal trafficking of mid-century modern heritage items. Ajay Jagga from the Chandigarh Heritage Protection Cell has urged the Punjab CM and Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to investigate how these items reached the US despite MHA restrictions. Speaker Sandhwan has assured an inquiry into the matter. This is the second such incident after tables from the assembly were auctioned in 2021. https://punjabspectrum.com/?p=4665 #Creator program
