Baingan Chhath, also known as Champa Shashti, is observed on the Shashti of Margashirsha Shukla Paksha. On this day, Lord Shiva's Khandoba form is worshipped by offering brinjals and millet on the Shivling. According to mythology, Shiva took the form of the warrior Khandoba to defeat the demon brothers Malla and Mani. While Mani was granted a place in temples after seeking forgiveness, Malla was slain and cursed for his destructive nature.
