The Central Government has reduced the annual quota of subsidized LPG cylinders for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries from nine to four. This decision aims to align the subsidy with the average annual consumption of households and manage the rising financial burden of subsidies. Initially launched with 12 subsidized cylinders in 2016, the quota was reduced to nine last year and has now been further cut.
