On 5th June 2026, coinciding with World Environment Day, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated Delhi's first E85 fuel dispensing station at an Indian Oil petrol pump on Pusa Road, New Delhi.
The outlet is being described as Delhi's first commercial E85 fuel station, with several reports also calling it India's first E85 dispensing station.
E85 fuel consists of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol and was launched at a price of ₹82.12 per litre, around ₹20 cheaper than E20 petrol.
However, the fuel can only be used in compatible flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) designed to run on high-ethanol blends, while regular petrol vehicles are generally not compatible with it.
