Domestic violence against women is on the rise in Bhubaneswar. According to Commissionerate Police data, over 50 cases involving dowry torture, attempted murder, and physical abuse have been registered in the last 5.5 months. Around 35 husbands and 10 relatives have been arrested. Notable incidents include two men murdering their wives over minor disputes and alcohol money in Bharatpur and Badagada areas. Arrests peaked in May with 16 individuals taken into custody.
