The Calcutta High Court has provided interim relief to TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in a case involving alleged objectionable remarks against Union Minister Amit Shah. The court has restrained West Bengal Police from taking any coercive action against him until July 31. Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya observed that custodial interrogation is not required based on the nature of the allegations. However, Banerjee must provide 48-hour prior notice to investigating officers before any travel and cannot travel without permission. The case was filed by a social worker following Banerjee's provocative speech during an election rally.
