In nine days, the goddess should be worshipped in nine different expressions. Worshipped as Parvati for the first three days, Lakshmi for the next three days and Saraswati for the last three days. The last three days are the most important. Most people also fast on only three days Ashtami, Navami and Dashami. Puja should be performed on Ashtami day. Studying is prohibited in Navami. Vijayadashami day is school day. Those who cannot fast for nine consecutive days can fast only for the last three days.
