This supplication is an authentic Hadith narrated from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and recorded in the highly regarded collections of Bukhari and Muslim.
The complete duʿāʾ also includes a beautiful request for purification:
“O Allah, cleanse me of my sins as a white garment is cleansed from filth.
O Allah, wash away my sins with water, snow, and hail.”
This duʿāʾ is recited after the opening Takbīr (Allāhu Akbar) at the very beginning of Salah, before Surah Al-Fātiḥah.
