Utkal Divas (1st April) is a very special day for the people of Odisha. It marks the formation of Odisha as a separate state in 1936, created on the basis of the Odia language.❤️✨
Before this, Odia-speaking regions were divided under different provinces like Bihar and West Bengal. After a long struggle by great leaders like Madhusudan Das, Odisha became the first Indian state formed on a linguistic basis.
This day celebrates:
• The rich culture, traditions, and heritage of Odisha.
• Pride in the Odia language.
• Unity among Odia people.
People celebrate with cultural programs, traditional dances like Odissi, music, and patriotic events.
