On July 1, 2026, daredevil couple Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus illegally climbed the Empire State Building’s spire—without ropes or safety equipment.
At the very top, they unfurled a flag reading:

But that wasn’t the biggest surprise...
On their way down, Ivan got down on one knee and proposed to Angela on a tiny platform hundreds of meters above New York City. 💍
The couple, known for their extreme “rooftopping” adventures, have been climbing together since 2016 and were featured in the Netflix documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story.
After reaching the ground, they were taken into custody by the NYPD and now face criminal trespassing charges that could carry up to one year in prison.
