New world monkeys can’t distinguish between red and green. Humans can only see a tiny fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum, which we perceive as ROYGBIV—a combination of red, green, and blue. These unique combinations create approximately 10 million different colours. But are these all the colours there are? Just as the New World monkey navigates a world it cannot know is stripped of color, we too exist within the narrow confines of our own senses, confidently mistaking our small sliver of the spectrum for the whole of reality.
