“Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” (Luke 7:23) Jesus spoke these words when John the Baptist was in prison, facing disappointment and uncertainty. John had boldly proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah, yet Jesus was not acting as John expected. Instead of immediately bringing judgment and freedom, Jesus was healing the sick, restoring lives, and preaching the Kingdom. John had to trust God even when circumstances seemed confusing. Following Christ does not mean everything will happen according to our expectations. Sometimes prayers seem unanswered, injustice continues, and God appears silent. In such moments, we may be tempted to question His goodness or become offended. Peter also learned this lesson when Jesus spoke about His suffering and death. Though he did not understand, he eventually remained with Christ. Faith says, “Even when I do not understand, I will still trust Jesus.” Blessed are those who continue believing without stumbling.
