Makkuni Tharavadu Pond, located in Azhikode Panchayat, Kannur. Built in 1897. It is located on the Puthapara-Meenkunnu-Vai Paramba road, about 9K M away from the district headquarters. It is still the pride of the country without any kind of damage due to its unique construction method. It was built using cut stone without using a single grain of cement. Its drainage system to purify water during the rainy season will attract special attention. Despite being surrounded by fields, not a single drop of dirty water from outside enters it. During the rainy season, people from nearby countries and even from Karnataka come here for shooting and to learn swimming.
