On 7 June 2026, Odisha Vigilance arrested Baikuntha Nath Behera, an Assistant Executive Engineer with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Baliguda, Kandhamal district, after raids at multiple locations allegedly uncovered assets disproportionate to his known income. Investigators recovered over ₹2.04 crore in cash, around 341 grams of gold, bank deposits worth about ₹45 lakh, and traced 13–14 land plots along with five multi-storey buildings. Behera had joined government service in 1999 with a reported monthly salary of ₹6,000. Following the searches, the Vigilance Department arrested him and registered a disproportionate-assets case. #odisha
