The Maharashtra government is planning to make it mandatory to include the birth dates of the bride and groom on wedding invitation cards to curb child marriage. Minister Aditi Tatkare announced that the state aims to reduce child marriage rates below 10% in five years. Legal action, including FIRs, will be taken not only against parents but also against service providers like priests and caterers involved in child marriages. The government is studying the Rajasthan model and focusing on high-risk districts like Beed and Parbhani.
