The historic Mahendra Mela has commenced at Mahendragiri in Gajapati district. Over 10,000 women climbed a 7 km uphill path carrying water from Parshuram Kund to the peak. The 9-day event features a grand Maha Yajna, spiritual discourses by saints from across India, and various Vedic rituals.
