Three women travelling from Jamshedpur to Hazaribagh allegedly faced a terrifying road rage attack on the Ranchi-Tata Highway near Dasham Fall after a minor collision with a Scorpio SUV on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the victims, the speeding Scorpio first hit their car and then chased them for several kilometres. The accused allegedly overtook their vehicle multiple times, blocked their path, tried to open the doors, and pelted stones at the car, shattering the driver's side window and injuring the driver, Ranveer Singh.
A video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows the accused allegedly threatening the occupants and vandalising the vehicle. The women said the attackers fled only after local residents began gathering at the scene.
The victims stated they repeatedly called the Dial-100 emergency helpline during the attack. Police reportedly reached the spot about 20–25 minutes later, by which time the accused had escaped.
Following the investigation, police identified and seized the Scorpio involved. The two accused, Rajkumar Mahato and Shoaib Raza, were later called for questioning.
Ranchi Rural SP Gaurav Goswami said the response was delayed due to the interior location of the incident. Police are continuing the investigation.
The incident has raised serious concerns over women's safety on highways and the effectiveness of highway patrolling in the area.
