The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a dire report on global food safety, revealing that unsafe and contaminated food causes approximately 1.4 million deaths annually. Around 88.6 crore people fall ill each year due to foodborne illnesses. The report highlights that children under five are three times more susceptible to these risks. Africa and Southeast Asia are the worst-hit regions, accounting for 75% of global foodborne illnesses. Beyond bacteria and viruses, chemicals like arsenic and lead are major concerns. Climate change and antimicrobial resistance are further exacerbating the crisis, which cost the global economy nearly $647 billion in 2021. https://sambad.in/india-and-beyond/global-food-contamination-causes-15-million-deaths-annually-with-children-most-affected-warns-who-12001058 #creator program
