The Congress party has announced its strong opposition to the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming Monsoon Session. The bill proposes the removal of Ministers, Chief Ministers, and even the Prime Minister if they remain in custody for 30 days due to serious criminal charges. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh labeled the bill 'dangerous' and a tool for political harassment. The party expressed confidence that the government lacks the two-thirds majority required to pass the amendment. The bill, previously referred to a joint parliamentary committee, may be presented in the session starting July 20.
