Former Gunupur MLA Rammurthy Gamang passed away at the age of 75 while undergoing treatment at Cuttack SCB Medical College. He was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes. Gamang served as an MLA twice, first from Janata Dal in 1990 and then from BJP in 2000. He made history as the only BJP candidate to win from Gunupur.
