The expansion of Akola Airport runway in West Vidarbha has received a boost as the state government approved ₹189.53 crore for land acquisition. To extend the runway from 1400m to 1800m, 22.24 hectares of land will be acquired under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013 instead of direct purchase to avoid technical delays involving 486 landowners from Shivar village.
