The issue first surfaced in 1901 and has persisted across generations. While some locals attribute it to an ancient curse, scientists believe it is a result of genetic mutations caused by long-term endogamous marriages within a limited community. Despite these challenges, villagers communicate through sign language and lead normal lives through farming and animal husbandry.
