The Delhi High Court has quashed the FIR and the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) ECIR against the news portal NewsClick and its Editor-in-Chief Prabir Purkayastha. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna observed that even if the allegations were accepted, they did not constitute offenses under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC. The court noted that in 2018, when the investment was received, there were no FDI caps or regulatory restrictions for digital news platforms.
