A tragic accident occurred at Ganpatipule beach in Ratnagiri where five youths from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar drowned. A group of 19 tourists from Bidkin had come for a weekend trip. While swimming after visiting the temple, 8 people were pulled deep into the sea due to high tides. Locals and lifeguards managed to rescue 3 people, but 5 youths aged 19 to 22 lost their lives.
