Punjab has reaffirmed its stance before the Ravi and Beas Water Tribunal, stating it cannot share additional water with Haryana and Rajasthan as they are not basin states. A three-member tribunal team led by Justice Vineet Saran inspected Harike Headworks and Ferozepur. Punjab officials argued that only Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir fall within the river basin area. Additionally, the issue of polluted water entering the Sutlej from tanneries in Pakistan's Kasur district was raised. The long-standing water dispute dates back to the reorganization of Punjab in 1966.
