Tensions escalated in the Gulf of Oman as the US Navy intercepted and searched an Iranian-flagged oil tanker, M/T Celestial Sea. According to US Central Command, the 120-meter long vessel was violating a naval blockade while heading towards an Iranian port. Commandos from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded the ship for inspection before releasing it with orders to change course.
