Tragedy struck in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district as 8 people, including 7 women, drowned in a river while collecting shells. The incident occurred near Shirali village when a group of 14 people entered the water and were caught in a sudden strong current caused by rain. While 8 bodies have been recovered, 2 people remain missing.
