The Karnataka government has issued a new dress code guideline for schools and colleges, revoking the 2022 hijab ban order. Students are now allowed to wear traditional symbols like hijab, janivara, rudraksha, and turbans along with their uniforms. Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa stated that this decision is student-centric and follows constitutional values. However, these traditional additions should not hinder discipline or student identification. Notably, saffron shawls are still not permitted as they are not considered part of traditional attire in this context.
