📖 Today’s Gospel — April 26, 2026 4th Sunday of Easter John 10:1–10 Jesus said: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a robber.” The image is clear. There are many voices. Many paths. Many promises. But not all lead to life. “The sheep hear his voice. He calls his own by name and leads them out.” Not a crowd. Not a number. By name. Known. Called. Led. Then Jesus reveals the center: “I am the gate for the sheep.” Not one option among many. The way. “Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.” Not restriction— but freedom. Not fear— but security. Then the contrast: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” There are voices that drain. Paths that empty. Promises that leave nothing. But Jesus: “I came so that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Not survival. Not barely enough. Life. Full. Secure. Overflowing. ✨ Reflection This Gospel speaks directly into the confusion of modern life. There are many voices competing for attention—success, approval, comfort, control. But not all voices lead to life. Jesus does not only guide—He is the gate itself. The question is not whether we are searching, but where we are entering. True freedom is not found in choosing any path, but in choosing the right one. 💡 Context (Important) This teaching follows the healing of the man born blind and the confrontation with the Pharisees. Jesus contrasts Himself with false shepherds who misuse authority. The sheepfold imagery was familiar to His listeners—one entrance, one protector. By calling Himself the gate, Jesus reveals both access and authority over life with God. 💡 Truths to Remember • Jesus is the only true entrance to life and salvation • He knows each person personally and calls by name • Not every voice leads to truth—discernment is necessary • Real freedom is found in following Christ • Abundant life comes from relationship with Him 🙏 Prayer Jesus, my Shepherd and my Gate, help me to recognize Your voice above every other. Give me the wisdom to choose the path that leads to life. Lead me into the freedom and peace that only You can give.
