Residents of Lakadapaju village in Boudh district are facing a severe drinking water crisis. Once a Maoist stronghold, the village is now peaceful but lacks basic amenities. Around 50 tribal families are forced to collect contaminated water from small pits dug in a hilly stream as the solar-powered water project remains defunct due to lack of maintenance. Despite administrative assurances for repairs, the villagers continue to suffer from waterborne diseases while waiting for clean drinking water.
