A female Village Administrative Officer (VAO) named Idhayakani and her assistant Venkatesan were arrested by anti-corruption police in Tirunelveli for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. They demanded the money from a local financier named Mookandi to renew his business license. Based on Mookandi's complaint, the police caught them red-handed while accepting the bribe at the Revenue Inspector's office.
