The Odisha Vigilance department has arrested an Assistant Engineer and a Junior Engineer from Kotagarh block in Kandhamal district for an alleged MNREGA scam exceeding ₹42 lakh. Investigations into the Amrit Sarovar project revealed that while ₹49.83 lakh was disbursed, the actual work value on the ground was only ₹7.42 lakh. The accused allegedly misappropriated funds without performing mandatory geo-tagging and by inflating bills between 2023 and 2026.
