An investigation into the Delhi Malviya Nagar hotel fire revealed that 21 people died because the hotel cook, Keshav Negi, turned off the main power supply in panic after an electric stove exploded. This caused the electronic door locks to fail, trapping guests inside rooms. Most victims died of suffocation. Delhi Police have arrested the hotel owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, and the cook, while manager Jay Mishra remains at large.
