A new UPI QR code fraud is targeting petrol pumps in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. Scammers fuel cars for small amounts, use the pump's QR code to transfer large sums of stolen money from other states, and then trick employees into giving the 'excess' amount back in cash. As the transferred funds are linked to cyber crimes, the bank accounts of several petrol pumps have been frozen by the police.
