An FIR has been filed against TMC MP and actress Rachna Banerjee for revealing the identity of the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder victim on social media. Senior advocate Shayan Sachin Basu filed the complaint seeking legal action. Rachna had posted a video seeking justice where she accidentally mentioned the victim's real name. Under Section 72 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), revealing a rape victim's identity is a punishable offense with up to 2 years of imprisonment.
